Friedrich Feigert

Feigert, Friedrich. Prague dancer, dance master and teacher. First dance master, from 1864, of the ballet of the Czech Provisional Theatre. Also arranger of dance entertainments at popular Prague venues. Feigert’s rooms were located in Rytířská ulice / Rittergasse 408-I. In 1854 Der Tagesbote 29/8/1854 reported that Feigert, once a renowned Harlequin, had in a pleasant reminiscence of his past as a pantomine artist given a pantomine in Teplitz [Teplice] with his children. It was entitled ‘Arlequin im Schutze der Zauberei, oder Vier gefoppte Liebhaber’. Subsequently, Feigert gained a position of considerable importance in Prague dance-social society. Tagesbote aus Böhmen 15/9/1857 related how he, as Dance Master of the Theatre and Court in Prague, had been present at a Congress held in Vienna discussing the interpretation of the recently evolved Reichsquadrille and Matrosenpolka formulated by the Professor of Dance Art in Graz, Eduard Eichler, and was concerning himself with introducing these dance to the city.
