Mercy’s Anzeiger 1/1/1857 reported that a Festival Ball was being arranged by Friedrich Feigert for Carnival Monday [Faschingsmontage - the Monday before Lent, in 1857 23rd February], and would include the novelty of a dance divertissement ‘im Costume [in fancy-dress].’ No further details of this event were given by the source. The venue and date of this event were confirmed in an advertisment published by Mercy’s Anzeiger on 22/1/1854.
Mercy’s Anzeiger 20/2/1857 published news that as every year, Feigert would be arranging on Carnival Monday ‘a great amusing Carnival-Joke [Carnevals-Scherz], entited “Fata morgana” including a highly amusing Dance-divertissement. No further details of the event were noted by the source. The following day the newspaper contained an advertisement relating: ‘Noch nie da gewesen!!! [Again without precedent!!!] A Carnival tale in the Underworld. F. Feigert arranges on general request on Carnival-Monday in the Konvikt Hall a Friendly-festival Reunion [Freudenfest-Reunion], in which an entirely newly arranged highly comic Divertissement will be given, and in which with his particular goodwill will the here recently-arrived elephant Monsieur Bullik will perform his own individual comic dance.’
The Vergnügungsanzeiger of Mercy’s Anzeiger 23/2/1857 reported ‘Today Monday... Konvikt Hall: Feigert’s Ball.’ No further details were given by this source.
