komentář:

Prager Zeitung 15/12/1859 first announced this concert, noting that ‘The Meritorious Professor of the celebrated Conservatory Mr Pisařowitz’ was to give a concert the following Saturday, which had a ‘very interesting’ programme. Advance news of this event was published by Prager Morgenpost 16/12/1859, which reported that ‘Professor Pisařowitz, the magnificent clarinet virtuoso, gives on Saturday 17th of this month in the Kovikt Hall a concert, in which also he will also be supported in solo performances by Dames Allram-Lechner [an actress], Brenner, and Mr Bachmann, and in which the choice of pieces looks to be very interesting.’ On 17/12/1859 Morgenpost listed the programme of the concert, specifying the works to be performed and, with the exception of identifying the piano accompanist, the participants. Notice of this event was also given by the Tageskalender in Bohemia 17/12/1859.

Dalibor 10/12/1859 too published advance information about this concert, and its account was considerably more effusive than the factual paragraphs appearing a few days later in Prager Zeitung or Prager Morgenpost. The Czech periodical related that the ‘Excellent Professor Jul. Pisařovic arranges on 17th of this month a concert, in which Mr Bachmann, Miss Brennerova and Vrabélyova will participate. We alert music lovers of this concert, in which we will marvel at the masterly playing of Mr Pisařovic. And who does not know of the fame of this clarinet virtuoso? His playing is more expressive than that of the expressive Klein in Vienna, his technical ability more perfect than the perfect Bärmann, and his tone more singing than [that of] the song-like Bär [Berr].’

The subsequent review, unsigned, published in Dalibor 20/12/1859 was equally enthusiastic. The ‘Concert of Professor Jul. Pisařovic on 17th of this month in the Konvikt received from the numerous audience complete approval and stormy approbation. [Pisařovic] performed two solos, namely the diverimento “Sen” [Ein Traum] by Bärmann and a fantasie on the opera “Puritané” [I Puritani] by Beer [Berr], in which he magnificently proved his famed virtuosity on the clarinet. Mr Pisařovic’s clarinet is really enchanting and capable of depicting all human feelings: weeping, joking, laughing, love-sick, with words speaking expressively to the heart of the listeners. And who would not marvel at the beautiful, resonant and singing tone of the clarinet of Pisařovic, his trills preformed from the greatest forte to the most exquisite piano, his lightening-quick passage work and stratospheric leaps on the clarinet?’ In both pieces the concert-giver was ‘tastefully accompanied’ at the piano by Eduard Nápravník. The song by Kücken and the variations from Auber’s opera were ‘excellently sung’ by Miss Brennerova; the ‘new’ songs by Slanský and Jahn were ‘decently’ performed by Bachmann. The success of the concer was ‘very splendid, the concert giver and Miss Brennerova were many times recalled [to the stage].’

Mrs Adele Allram-Lechner gave two poems following the variations from Auber’s opera, namely Schiller’s Die Theilung der Erde and Katherina Klautschek’s [as spelt by the German sources, Dalibor gives Kloučková] Der flüchtige Amor. Eduard Nápravník probably took the place of the Hungarian pianist Miss Serafína Vrabély, who Dalibor 10/12/1859 had originally announced to be participating in this concert
