A review of this concert was published by Prager Morgenpost 9/8/1862. Of the ‘Concert of the Singing Society „Arion“’, the correspondent reported that ‘Arranged by the Singing Society „Arion“ in the Hall of Žofín Island on Wednesday was a concert with some very interesting numbers, assembled in a mosaic of a programme that we reluctantly must say only lacked a unifying theme that the endeavours of such a society could have brought to such an occasion.  The instrumental part [of the concert] was represented with a „Sonata“ for violin and piano by Beethoven and piano pieces by Liszt and Chopin. The chorus of the society very distinctively performed Jägers Abschied“ by Mendelssohn. In a voice that was as wholesome as it was well-schooled, Mr Popper sang a song [Lied] for tenor der Blinde“ by Köhler, followed by Mr Birkinger [singing] die Orientalin“ of Hoschek, then both a duet from Halevi’s [Halevy] Jüdin. The bass of Mr Birkinger is not pithy enough [nicht markig genug] for these pieces; the singer also entered incorrectly at one place. Miss Peckel, a pupil for several years of the local Conservatory who has already become renowned through brilliant appearances contributed a quite adorable song [Lied] by Franz „Dies ud Das“ and a Cavatina from Lucia [Lucia di Lammermoor]“. The performance of the first was exceptionally charming, the not very weighty voice sonorous like a bell, the articulation was really sharp, the whole appopriately expressive of the pure, unadulterated Art of which this ditty was fashioned. Mr Nachbauer closed the concert with two songs [Liedern].’ The critic considered the weakest part of the concert to have been the rendition of a poor choice of declamations that included Görner’s Salz und Ehe and Klesheim’s Die gelden Ruben und der Radi. Miss Birbaum recited Das erste Bild, presumably also a poem. Each number of the concert met with applause, the most accorded to the singing of Miss Peckel.

The detailed order and precise content of the programme is not apparent from the Prager Morgenpost review, which did not identify the compositions by Chopin and Liszt. The instrumentalists performing the piano pieces and the violin sonata were not noted. The database listing of the programme follows the order in which the works were described by the review. The duet from Halévy’s Die Jüdin [La Juivre] was not specifically identified but from the the scoring for two male voices was almost certainly that of Brogni and Éléazar from act 4.
