Halévy, Jaques-François-Fromental-Élie (1799-1822). French composer. Pupil of the Paris Conservatoire, later chorus master at the Paris Théâtre Italien and at the Opéra-Cominque. From 1827 professor of harmony and accompaniment at the Conservatoire, later of counterpoint and fugue (1833) and composition (1840). LAs a composer his output largely comprised operas.
