komentář:

Národní listy 21/1/1861 noted that this Requiem service was arranged by the Měšťanská beseda (Civic Society) together with the Academic Reading Society. Národní listy 25/1/1861 published news of a mistake in the periodical’s 23/1/1861 report of the occasion which had stated that the ‘beautiful’ cantata for the Elevation of the Host was by Heller. This was related not to have been the case, the music having been composed by an ‘unknown’ composer and the text by ‘Dr Fritz from Jihlava’. The original Národní listy 21/1/1861 report noted ‘Tomorrow, Tuesday 22 January, the Civic Society [Měšťanská beseda] arranges together with the Academic Reader’s Society in Prague for Váceslav Hanka a celebratory Requiem in the church of Our Lady Maria before Týn at 11 am.’

The Národní listy 23/1/1861 report noted that attending the service where the Counts Clam-Martinic, Lobkovic, Rudolf Thurn-Taxis, Countess Kounicova and others. Also present were ‘almost the entire Czech intelligentsia’, townspeople and many students.
