Bohemia 14/6/1860 reported that providing the weather was good the Society for Education in Military Music there would take place on 16th June outside on Žofín Isalnd this ‘great music festival [großes Musikfest]’ following the annual concert of the [Military Music Institute] of the Society. The outdoor performance would include the ensembles of the Infantry Regiments of the Archduke Sigismand [Sigismund], of the Prince Regent of Prussia, and of Count Gyulai. These would both play separately and in combination, and among the pieces to be given would be the Polonaise from [Meyerbee’s] Struensee arranged by the Institute’s director Mr Pavlis. The event was then noted in the Tageskalender of Bohemia 16/6/1860, which noted ‘Saturday 16. June. Žofín Hall, Annual concert of the Society for Education in Military Music, then [a] production of the music ensembles of the Infantry Regiments of Archduke Sigismund, [of the] Prince Regent of Prussia and [of] Count Gyulai.’

This event was given in the Žofín Garden immediately following and in conjunction with the concert of the Military Music Institute of J. Pavlis held in the Žofín Hall. The Dalibor 20/6/1860 review, signed ‘-l.’, related that the event enjoyed an even more profuse attendance than the preceding concert, and involved the combined performance of three military music ensembles. Of the works performed the source noted that particularly appreciated were the Overture to ‘Sicilské nešpory [
Les Vêpres Siciliennes] by Verdi, the Polonaise [from] the tragedy Struensee by Meyerbeer, which director Mr Pavlis had arranged for military music ensemble, the Clam-Gallas March by Pavlis and a polka by V. Vítěz, a pupil of the Military Music Institute.’
