Der Tagesbote 26/11/1854 reported that on Thursday 30th November at 11am a solemn requiem would be given for Count Wenzel Leopold Radetzky, grandfather of Fieldmarshall Radetzky, whose remains had been found in the monastary crypt and were to be interred in a new coffin in the newly renovated crypt of this church. The Žofín Academy would perform the ‘highly interesting Requiem by Sig. von Neukomm’ that it had recently given at a service for the late Count von Fürstenberg.

Mercy’s Anzeiger 27/11/1854 also published news of this forthcoming event, reporting: ‘Next Thursday (on 30th Nov.), there will take place at 11am in the New Town church of the Capucins, St Joseph, a solemn Requiem to mark the occasion of the dedication of the renovated tomb of the Count Wenzel Leopold von Radetzky, the dear grandfather of His Excellency the distinguished Fieldmarshall Count Radetzky, at which the Žofín Academy will perform the Requiem by von Neukomm. The coffin, which contains the remains, is being displayed on a decorated rostrum in the church. His Excellency the Fieldmarshall has donated the sum of 100fl towards this restoration.’ An unsigned account of the event was later published by

Mercy’s Anzeiger 1/12/1854. The correspondent related that: ‘Yesterday (30th Nov.) in the Capucin church of St Joseph was celebrated by the Reverend Deacon Ruffer a solemn Requiem for the burial of Leopold Count Radetzky von Radetz, in which the Žofín Academy under the leadership of its director Vogel performed the vocal-Requiem by Sigmund Count von Neukomm. Mrs Botschon-Soukup [Botschon-Soukupová] took the solo part. Before the high altar was raised a plinth, on which a fresh wreath was placed and which was lit by a great number of candles. At the head of the plinth by the alter was the coffin in oak decorated with arabesques, made by Stěpanek in Chrudim, with the remains of the renowned Count, the grandfather of the esteemed Fieldmarshall Count von Radetzky. The tomb in the church was not only restored but also furnished with new stone steps. It was during the occasion open. The new grave-cover [stone/monument] by Holz is inscribed with the following: FAMILIA. RADEZKYANA. WENC. LEOP. RADEZKY. COM. DE. RADEZ. NAT. 11. SEPT. 1701. DENAT. 16. OCT. 1781. A guard of honour was formed by the Royal Rifles [Battalion]. Several state Generals and state officials as well as officers were present.’
