Commentary:

Both the Dalibor 10/6/1861 and Národní listy 12/6/1861 reports announced that in the event of rain, this concert would take place on 17/6/1861, since the concert was to be combined with a ‘garden festival’ at which were to participate four regimental military bands. Čas 11/6/1861 reported the same news, that the ‘Concert of the Society for the Advancement of Military Music under the direction of Mr Pavlis will take place on 15th June or, if it rains, on 17th June. This concert will be combined with a garden festival, at which will participate 4 military regiment bands.’

The subsequent unsigned Dalibor review confirmed that the concert occurred on 15/6/1861, and was followed by outdoor performances in the Žofín garden by the four participating military orchestras. Luigi Ricci’s Overture to Il nuovo Figaro was performed by the string orchestra of the infantry regiment of Count Gyulaj. The unidentified ‘duet’ by Kittl was performed by the entire contingent of pupils of the military music school. The programme is reproduced in order corresponding with the Dalibor 20/6/1861 review.
