Mercy’s Anzeiger 3/1/1854 reported that ‘At the musical prize-competition of the last Musical Garland [a series of dance entertainments given in the Konvikt Hall in late 1854 and ending on 31st December], that took place on St Sylvester’s evening in the Konvikt Hall, the first prize of 1 ducat in gold was awarded for the “Knallkügerl’n-Polka” by the favourite dance composer Miss Math. Ringelsberg, and which gained the most applause and had to be thrice encored. We should also mention that the dances by Kapellmeister Jeschko as well as the „Flora-Polka“ by Studený received great applause, and several of which had to be encored.
The above report also appeared verbatim in the German-language newspaper Der Tagesbote aus Böhmen 3/1/1857. In this source the report carried the signature ‘Egf.’. Most likely this was an organizer or other individual connected with the series of Kränzchen who passed the text to the newspapers.
