The German-language newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 6/11/1857 reported that ‘In the Church of St James will be held today at 11am a Festival of Thanks for the successful eye operation of Prof. Dr Smetana. Performed will be the First Mass in F major by J. Krejčí.’
