Kommentar:

Mercy’s Anzeiger 6/8/1854 reported that on ‘Tuesday 8th August will take place on the Žofín Island a great „Abschieds-Musikproduction“ of the favourite ensembles the Royal Inf. Regmts. Archduke Albrecht and of the Royal 24th Rifles Battalion, in which both musical bands will play together in the following piece: 1. Great Wedding Festival Music, composed especially for the Royal Wedding by the Royal Army Kapellmeister Leonhardt. 2. Links-Rechts-Polka of Swoboda. 2. March from Le prophète by Meyerbeer.’ Subsequent issues of this newspaper did not record that the event was postponed due to poor weather. The Vergnügungsanzeiger of Mercy’s Anzeiger 11/8/1854 announced: ‘Today Friday: On the Žofín Island great Farewell festival of the Royal Infantry Regiment Archduke Albrecht and of the Royal 24th Rifles Battalion’. No further details were given by these sources.

Der Tagesbote
8/8/1854 reported that this event would take place ‘today’ in the event of good weather. The title of the occasion and the names of the participating ensembles were noted, and that combined they amounted to 100 men. The united ensembles performed three works, which are listed in the programme record. The report concluded by announcing that in the event of bad weather this ‘music production [Musik-Produktion]’ would take place on the morning of 9th August. Der Tagesbote 9/8/1854 then announced that due to the disruption of the weather the event would take place on the following Friday [11/8/1854].

On Der Tagesbote 11/8/1854 published news that ‘On Žofín Island today the favourite bands of the esteemed Royal Infantry Regiment of Archduke Albrecht and of the esteemed Royal 24th Jäger-Batallion are organizing their great Farewell Music Production [Abschieds-Music-Production]. Both bands will participate in the already announced great musical compositions. In the event of bad weather the event will be on Saturday 12th August.’ No subsequent report of the event appeared in later issues of this newspaper. The event has therefore been dated as taking place on 11th August. That the event took place on 11th August was also suggested by a report appearing in
Mercy’s Anzeiger 10/8/1854 which noted ‘The great „Farewell Musical Festiavl [Anschieds-Musikproduction]“ of the Royal Infantry Regiment of Archduke Albrecht and of the Royal 24th Rifles Battalion takes place on 11th of this month (on Friday).’

Mercy’s Anzeiger 5/5/1854 published a notice announcing ‘Great orchestra of the Royal Military; afternoons. On the Žofín Island: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday; in Zdekauer’s (formerly Count Canal’s Garden): Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday; in the Estates Arboretum: Sunday and Thursday.’
