Josef Ulm
Ulm, Josef (1826-1865). Czech organist, church music director, composer and writer. Educated at the Prague Organ School (1841-1842). Also studied music theory at the Conservatory with the director of that institute. Kapellmeister at the Church of the Holy Ghost (from February 1855) and also at St Gallus (from July 1862). Founder, director and principal writer in the pioneering Czech music periodical Slavoj (1862-1865). Substantial output of church music compositions, as well as some instrumental music.
