News of this ball appeared in Der Tagesbote 1/10/1858 in news of events that were to be held to celebrate the nameday of the Emperor Franz Joseph on 4 October. These also included a high mass given in St Vitus Cathedral at 9am and a parade of the Sharpshooters Corps at 3pm. No details of the musical content of this evening ball were related.
