Ignác Hynek was noted by the Dalibor 20/11/1861 report to have been a pupil of the Prague Conservatory, and a chamber musician of Prince Wittgenstein-Berleburgski. He performed unspecified works for ’cello with ‘appropriate success.’ Also participating in this concert was Miss Gabriela Hofrichterová, although the works that she performed were not identified by the Dalibor source.

Prager Zeitung 10/11/1861 reported that ‘Tomorrow at 12 noon takes place in the Konvikt Hall a concert by the violoncellist and chamber musician of His Excellency the Count Wittenstein-Berleburg, Mr Ignaz Hynek.’ A review, signed ‘!!’, was published by the newspaper on 13/11/1861. The correspondent began by noting that in contrast with the concert given by Miss Artôt, the concert given on Sunday by the violoncellist Ig. Hynek, chamber musician to His Excellency the Count Wittenstein-Berleburg, suffered from an empty room [i.e. poor attendance]. The concert-giver, a compatriot, a graduated pupil of the local Conservatory and a pupil of Goltermann, was thought to have demonstrated the success with which artistry had developed. The correspondent noted his ‘round and full’ tone and his mastery of technique. The pieces he played were identified; the critic related that he was supported in the programme by Mr Lukes and Miss Gabriele Hofrichter [Hofrichterová]. The latter was related to be new to perfoming in public, and her voice still required training. The two pieces she sang were noted. The second of these, by Podhorský, Ob ich dich liebe? was thought to have suffered from being given in a faulty Czech translation.

A review, signed ‘V.’ of this concert was published by Bohemia 12/11/1861. This also noted that the concert was poorly attended, and remarked that the pieces he played were accompanied by a ‘surprisingly sonorous “Pianino”’. The programme chosen by the ’cellist was criticised for its emphasis on the purely virtuosic. Miss Hofrichter was praised for her performances as a debutante.
