This was the first of three dance-reunions and a concluding ball arranged and given by the ensemble of the Prague Civil Grenadiers Corps. News of the these events appeared in the form of a notice published in Czech in Národní listy 10/1/1861 that was reprinted the following day on 11/1/1861. This text noted that ‘Tickets into the dance entertainments and ball which the Imperial High band of the Grenadiers arranges in the Konvikt Hall on 12, 19, 26 January and on 6 February, are possible to obtain at Mr Jan Schäde’s Coffee house in Celetná Street, from Karel Räb, cobbler in New Passage [Nový alej] (near Šlik’s palace) and at Jan Fekter’s, hairdresser in the Lesser Quarter Square [Malostranská náměstí]’. The availablility of tickets from a cobbler [a shoemaker] and a hairdresser perhaps constituted a sound business proposition for these vendors.
Prager Morgenpost 10/1/1861 reported that ‘The Civil Grenadiers Corps is now arranging three reunions on 12th, 16th and 26th January and a Ball on 6th February in the Konvikt Hall. These dance entertainments in their preparation promise to be splendid [occasions].’ A notice for these events was published by this newspaper on 10/1/1861 and 11/1/1861. This source was identical in content to that appearing on the same days in Národní listy, but in the German language.
