Information appeared in the Tagesanzeiger text of Bohemia 19/10/1851 noting that on Sunday 19th October there would take place in the Žofín Hall a musical trial to the Autumn reunions of Mr Pohl. The same issue of the newspaper also published a notice - probably inserted by the directorate of the venue - announcing the event. This source added that the programme of the trial would comprise entirely new dances and would be of particular interest on account of its containing a new one composed by Mr Pohle, ‘very jaunty, genuinely folk-inspired Mazur [äußerst schwungvolle, echt nationell gehaltene Mazur]. Mr Pohl appears here for the first time before the public as a composer, and we wish him - with the dance Mazur par excellence - in this new field of his artistic endeavours the best success.’
The occasion would also have involved the rehearsal of dances to be performed at the forthcoming series of three reunions arranged by the Prague dance master.
