The Tagesbote 8/10/1858 advertisement included the date and venue of this event, and announced that the Scottish Bell-players [Schottische Glockenspieler] comprised 7 performers dressed in national costume. Also outlined were the works to be performed by the ensemble in between acts of the farce by Langer. The same details were contained in the Bohemia 8/10/1858 advertisement, which also stated that the event began at 4pm and was to end at 6pm. The advertisement appearing in Morgenpost 8/10/1858 gave the venue and date of the production, and that the ‘Second Concert of the Scottish Bell-players comprising 7 performers in their national costume, under the direction of Mr Sawyer.’ The associated performance of the farce Der Hausmeister was also announced.

On 10/10/1858, following their third and final performance in the Pštroska Summer Theatre, Prager Zeitung published a brief account, signed ‘!!’, of the Scottish Bell-player ensemble. This text remarked that bell-players were already known in Prague, and that the bells of this particular ensemble covered 4 octaves ‘vom großen bis zum dreigestrichtenen G’. The bells of the lower octave ‘on account of their elastic clappers sounded a pleasant, slightly muted clang, whereas the upper octave was brighter.’ The sound they produced had a mellow, lingering tone. All of the group were dressed in Scottish plaid. Mr Sawyer directed and at the same time played the bells of the lower octave. Three younger peformers in the middle octaves provided the accompaniment, and the three youngest ‘vied’ for the melody in the highest register.
