komentář:

Preliminary information about this event was published by Prager Morgenpost 7/9/1859. This reported that on Sunday 11th September various melodies would be performed on the bells of the Loreto church. After giving brief details of the history of the carillon [see Venue commentary], the text noted that the performance would be given by ‘the celebrated organist and music teacher Wenzel Kačaba [Václav Kocaba]’ This would take place between 11am and 1pm and would conclude with the Volkshymne [‘Heil dir in Siegeskranz’].

The unsigned Dalibor review stated that the performance on the carillon [‘Hrací zvonečky’] took place ‘on Sunday 10th September between 12 noon and 1pm’. This was inaccurate in view of the details published prevously by Prager Morgenpost 7/9/1859 and from the fact that 10/9/1859 was actually Saturday. The review also noted that Kocaba was an organist and that he played seven melodies, the last of which was of his own composition. No mention was made of his performing the Austrian Volkshymne. A similar history of the bells was given, coupled with the additional note that the carillon had recently been repaired.
