komentář:

Full details of this event and its programme were published in advance of the event only by Prager Morgenpost 23/4/1859. Brief news of the production appeared in Prager Zeitung 24/41859 and the concert was listed in the Tageskalender of Bohemia 25/4/1859.

The unsigned Dalibor 1/51859 review enthused about both the success of this concert, it ‘obtained as usual a magnificent outcome’, and of Goltermann’s playin
g. His performance was such that the technical difficulties of the works that he gave vanished ‘like shadows before the sunshine, his playing is outstanding, ardent and tasteful. That the concert-giver received great applause it is not necessary to note, for the public is aware of his virtuosity on the ’cello.’ The orchestra of the Estates Theatre performed ‘very precisely’ under the direction of Nesvdba, and Eilers performed the aria from Paulus and two German songs ‘with warm-hearted expression.’
