Prager Morgenpost 2/12/1858 announced that ‘We bring the Dance-loving young World of Prague the pleasing notice that the „Besedy‟ ... [will take place during the Carnival season in the Žofín Hall].’ The dates for the events themselves were announced as 24 January and 7 February, and the musical rehearsal on 15 January. This newspaper on each day from 18/1/1859 until 23/1/1859 published an advertisement in Czech from the Beseda committee announcing that tickets for the two besedas could be purchased each day between 11am and 1pm from the inn ‘u černého koně’ [‘At the Black Horse’]. From 29/1/1859 until 6/2/1859 similar advertisements announcing where the purchase of tickets for the second Beseda could be made (now daily from 10am until 2pm) also appeared in Prager Morgenpost.
The unsigned review published by Dalibor 10/2/1859 reported that the ‘Second beseda, which took place on the 7th of this month, found a still greater audience than the first and turned out to be very splendid. The decoration was elegant, the organization exemplary, the conversation was unfettered and the whole environment in general was lively and hearty.’ The committee of the beseda under the chairmanship of Mr J. Sklenář were complimented upon the circumspection of their choice of dances. The performance of the music, given under the leadership of Ješko, did justice to the occasion.
