Typ akce: Popular social musical and dance events
Datum: 01/02/1859 7pm
Sézona: Carnival
Admission to the event cost 30kr, relatively expensive for a dance entertainment around this time. Two days later Komzák’s String Orchestra gave a soirée in the Bastion Restaurant by the Station and admission was charged at 10kr. Komzák’s ensemble was undoubtedly one of the most popular and successful private ensembles then operating in Prague; its 10kr charge for admission was relatively substantial in the 1859 season and similar to the entrance fee levied by other important groups such as Wernhardt’s popular orchestra, or the ensemble of the Prague Civil Sharpshooters. The 30kr admission may have reflected upon the facilities available at the venue, or even the programme of the entertainment. Later Komzák began to include into some of his musical entertainments substantial concertante performances with outside soloists. Admission prices may well have reflected such more substantial programmes. No further details about this particular event were given by the source.
