A similar ‘Music- and Song-Festival’ [Musik- und Sänger-Fest] had been given a week earlier on 24/11/1858. Participating in the event on 31/12/1858 was the ‘Styrian Singer-family Remmele’ [also frequently spelt Remelle or Remele], who it was noted were to perform alternately with Wernhardt’s musical ensemble. The Bohemia 30/12/1858 notice also announced that especially for this event Jeschko [Ješko] had composed the Potpourri Etwas für Alle.
Prager Morgenpost 30/12/1858 published a news article announcing this event as a ‘Great Music- and Singer-Festival’, announcing that the Wernhardt ensemble under the leadership of its Kapellmeister Jeschko [Ješko] would alternate with performances by the Styrian singing family ‘Remmele’. The text noted that Jeschko would bring to the occasion a potpourri that he had specially composed, Etwas für Alle. In the same issue, and also in that of the following day, 31/12/1858, an advertisement announcing a ‘Sylvester-Festival and Double-Amusement’ [Sylvester-Fest und Doppel-Amusement] gave these same details, adding only that the singers would appear in their national costume and that the event would begin at 7pm (not 6pm as noted in the Bohemia 31/12/1858 Tageskalender), and that admission was 12kr.
From information published in Bohemia 24/11/1858 about their previous public appearance, it seems likely that the Remmele family performed to an accompaniment of zither and guitars.
