komentář:

An account was published by Prager Morgenpost 17/5/1863 of a disturbance arising on Václavské náměstí on 15/5/1863, the even of the saint’s day of St Jan Nepomuk. According to the source, after fireworks had been let off in celebration of the occasion, a youth came from out of a house on Václavské náměstí and began to sing Hej Slované! in front of the statue of Jan Nepomuk. He then proceeded along the square apparently intoning the equally politically contentious Šuselka nám píše. The refrain of this was interrupted by catcalls and baying from the windows of the Deutsche Casino. The disturbance was broken up with the arrival of the police, who arrested the individual.
