Janatka, Jan (1800-1881). Czech horn player born in Třeboratice. Pupil (1813-1819) of the Prague Conservatory. Between 1822 and 1832 he was resident in Vienna, performing in the orchestra of the Court Opera and then (from 1828) in the orchestra of the Theater an der Wien. In 1832 he moved back to Prague where he became Professor of horn at the Conservatory. For many years (1832-1873) he was also principal hornist of the German Estates Theatre.1
