Commentary:

Národní listy 11/12/1861 reported briefly that a benefit concert would be given in aid of the Prague Humanitarian Musical Society on 21/12/1861 at 4.15pm in the Žofín Hall. No further details of this event were published by this newspaper.

A detailed report of this event was published by Prager Zeitung 20/12/1861. This source noted the date, time, venue of the concert, the benefiting cause, and listed the programme in performance order and the participants. This was followed by a brief comment upon the Humanitarian Musical Society founded by Müller. The correspondent noted that the institute was currently expanding, supporting more than 56 pupils in the study of music. From the benefit cause of the concert a very numerous audience was expected and a large profit in aid of the Society’s work. A poem was to be performed following the opening work by Beethoven.
