Mercy’s Anzeiger 6/9/1854 reported that on ‘16th September, on the day of the Holy Ludmilla, the ancient St George’s church on Hradčany [auf der Hradschin] that is closed throughout the year will be opened for this occasion and a public religious service given.’ No mention was made of the musical content of the occasion.

Der Tagesbote
7/9/1854 reported an identical text to that of its sister paper’s on the previous day, announding that on ‘16th September, on the day of the Holy Ludmilla, the ancient St George’s church on Hradčany [auf der Hradschin] that is closed throughout the year will be opened for this occasion and a public religious service given.’ On 15th September in a text signed ‘-r.’ the same newspaper reported about the occasion, noting the historical importance of the church, specifically as the resting place of many Bohemian nobility including Countess Ludmilla and Counts Boleslav and Vratislav, and for its impressive tenth-century crypt. Nothing was mentioned about the religious service or any performance of music. The church opened twice yearly on 16th September and on 24th April.
