A notice was published in Bohemia 12/1/1851 announcing that the Ballbureau to the Society Ball taking place on 15th January was open on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday from 10am until 1pm and on Wednesday from 8am until 3pm. The bureau, presumably where admission tickets were sold, was located in Geitler’s House, first floor, no.838 in the Roßmarkt [Václavské náměstí]. The notice concluded with the statement that gentlemen were to wear either ball costumes or uniform.

The Tagesanzeiger text of Bohemia 14/1/1851 confirmed the date and venue of this event. This issue of the newspaper also carried a notice undersigned by ‘Some Law Students’ that the widespread circulating opinion that a ‘Juristenball’ was to take place on 15th January in the Žofín Hall was incorrect, and that the event had not been chosen by the arrangers to be for the benefit of the law students.
