Commentary:

News published by Prager Morgenpost 5/1/1860 reported that the musical trial to the Kränzchenball would take place tomorrow. Following the trial was to be the final ‘Schluß-Soirée’, which would include music, song and declamations. An advertisement  then published in the newspaper on 6/1/1860 reported that the musical trial to the Kränzchenball [Garlands-ball] would begin at 5pm. This would be followed by the ‘Schluss-Soirée’ in which the ‘non plus ultra’ would be a dwarf, which for those attending would be ‘a pleasant surprise.’ The soirée was to begin at 7pm and end at midnight. Admission to the evening cost 20kr. The Tageskalender of Bohemia 6/1/1860 noted that the participating musical ensemble in this event was that of the 18th Rifles Batallion.

Prager Zeitung 8/1/1860 published a report that during the event the music director Ferdinand Schroll was presented with a baton of ebony with a silver mount, engraved with the words ‘As a memento for the Garlands [Musical entertainments] in the Apollo Hall for the deserving Kapellmeister of the imperial 18th Field-Rifles Battalion Mr Ferdinand Schroll, from the Society.’
