Appé, August (c.1820-?). Prague bass/baritone singer and singing teacher. The German-language Prague newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 25/1/1857 reported that ‘The baritone Mr Appé from Prague, formerly member of the Graz City Theatre, has following successful guest performances been engaged from Easter 1857 in the Vienna Court Opera Theatre.’ Appé also founded a successful private singing school in Prague and appeared regularly as a soloist in local concert events. Prager Morgenpost 13/2/1863 and Bohemia 14/2/1863 announced his appointment as the artistic director of the German singing society Aëde in February 1863.
