Doppler, Karl (1825-1900). Hungarian flute virtuoso, composer and conductor. With his brother Franz he toured extensively in Europe fron the late 1830s until well into the 1850s. Both settled for a time as orchestral Theatre players in Budapest where Karl gained the position of Kapellmeister. In 1865 he moved to Stuttgart to become Court Kapellmeister. His compositional output includes various works for flute, several Hungarian operas, choruses and songs.
