Kommentar:

The specified reports are in agreement as to the actual works given in this concert. However, while Národní listy 14/3/1862 stated that Horvitz [Horwitz] and Sitt were to play only the first movements of their respective concerti, the subsequent Dalibor review contained no suggestion that the works were not performed complete. The programme is reproduced in performance order.

The Dalibor review, signed ‘r-r’, expressed praise for the Conservatory, noting that ‘As is well-known, the concerts of the Conservatory belong to the best and most reliable, for the works performed are presented to the public after careful and rigorous rehearsal. This year’s first concert confirmed the good reputation of this institute. Of orchestral works we heard a lively Mozart Symphony in G minor and Reinecke’s Concert Overture Alladin, and we may acknowledge that the young orchestra performed both works with astonishing accuracy, nuance and in the spirit of the composers. The main credit for this successful performance lies with Mr Bedř. [Friedrich] Kittl, who upon his appearance was received warmly and was rewarded with applause and approbation.’ The performances by the two solo instrumentalists were praised by the Dalibor critic, who attributed their success to effective tuition. Of the two solo vocalists, the reviewer ‘particularly liked the resonant and strong voice of the soprano, Miss Horinová.’ Finally, the critic appealed to the directorship of the Conservatory to accede to the wishes of the Czech public and introduce arias or duets in Czech into future concert programmes.

According to both Národní listy 14/3/1862 and Dalibor 10/3/1862, Antonín Sitt and Willibald Horwitz entered the institute in 1858, Eleonore Fischerová and Aloisie Horinová in 1857.
