• LUKES, Jan Ludevít: director of ensemble, conductor

The Národní listy 1/6/1861 review, signed ‘Čas [i.e. reproduced from the then recently founded Czech-language newspaper Čas]’, described this event as a religious festival to celebrate ‘the freedom and legal establishment of the Protestant church... in the lands of Slavic and German Austria.’ The singers were directed by J.L. Lukes, and most possibly comprised his private choir soon to become the singing society Hlahol, as well as the choir of St Clement’s church. The source also noted that the two specified choruses were especilly composed for this event. Leading the religious service was the pastor of the church, V. Šubert.
