Kommentar:

Liszt also composed an earlier work for piano based upon themes from Ernani, but which (S431a) remained unpublished during the composer’s lifetime; the piece given on this occasion was undoubtedly the Paraphrase. The unspecified Dalibor reviewer considered the concert to have been ‘a proud victory’ for von Bülow. The review praised his sensitive and emotive playing, particularly in the unspecified Andante by Mozart, but his performance of the Overture to Tannhäuser led the critic to express doubts as to the pianist’s physical strength.

A detailed review, signed ‘-h.’, of this concert was published by Der Tagesbote 3/5/1860. The programme is reproduced in order corresponding with the description of the event by the Dalibor review.
