Der Tagesbote 4/11/1854 reported that a spoken [’stille’] mass for the dead would be given for the late Count Karl Egon von Fürstenberg in the monastary church of St Thomas next Monday [6/11/1854] at 9am, and then a solemn requiem [vocal] performed on Thursday 9th November at 10am in St Clement’s church with the participation of the Žofín Academy. No further details of the event were published by this source. On the following day, 5/11/1854, Der Tagesbote published news that on 9th November at 11am in St Clement’s church the Žofín Academy would perform for its late protector Count zu Fürstenberg, who had died on 22nd October, a solemn Requiem by Sig. Neukomm. All members of the Academy as well as all those who wished to honour the deceased were invited to attend. A brief note about the event, its date, time and venue appeared in Der Tagesbote 9/11/1854.

Mercy’s Anzeiger published news of this event somewhat later than its sister newspaper Der Tagesbote, on 6/11/1854. A report briefly noted that the Žofín Academy well perform on Thursday 9th November at 11am in the St Clement’s church a vocal requiem by Sigmund Neukomm,
for its late Patron His Excellency the Count von Fürstenberg who died on 22nd October at Ischl. On 9/11/1854 Mercy’s Anzeiger reported ‘Today at 11am will, as we have already reported previously, in the church of St Clement the Requiem for His Excellency the late Count Carl Egon Fürstenberg.

A review signed ‘Em - š.’ of this event was published by the Czech-language periodical Lumír 11/11/1854. The correspondent reported ‘On 9th November at 11am took place in the church of St Clement in the presence of a numerous public a festive Requiem for His Eminence the late Prince Karl Egon z Fürstenberku, piously rendered by the director of the seminary Dr Prucha. The Žofín Academy, of which the deceased was the high Protector, performed for a final act of reverence under its director Mr Vogl the excellent Requiem by Sigmund Neukomm, supported in the solo passages of the composition by Mrs Bočon-Soukupová and on played masterfully on the organ by the director of the Organists Institute Mr Pič. The beautiful coffin in the centre of the church was adorned with the coat of arms of the deceased, the many flowers as well as the bittersweet singing of the Academy combining to give an impression of melancholy.’ The reviewer, given the signature, was most likely Emanuel Meliš.
