Kommentar:

The Prager Zeitung 7/4/1859, the Prager Morgenpost 8/4/1859 and the Dalibor 10/4/1859 announcements of this event related that the profits obtained from this concert were to be halved between the Society for the Construction of Sv Vít [St Vitus] Cathedral and the Institute for the Poor at Sv Bartoloměj [St Bartholomew], and that this would be the last concert which Miss Rudloff would give in Prague before her departure.

No review of this advertised concert appeared in any subsequent issue of Dalibor or Prager Morgenpost, but a detailed review of the concert including a description of the programme was published by Prager Zeitung 17/4/1859. The second half of the event was noted to contain the ‘Symphonie in B-dur (op.52)’ by Schumann. The opus number given here was a mistake; the review published by Bohemia 16/4/1859 identifies the work clearly as the Symphony in B-flat major, and not his Overture, Scherzo and Finale which actually carried the designation op.52. The Bohemia text noted that the work had previously been performed in Prague on 25/3/1859.

In addition to commentary upon the music items performed in the concert, the Prager Zeitung and Bohemia reviews related that Miss Rudloff gave to great audience acclaim three [poetry] declamations, Niren by Heine, Frühlingswind by Oscar von Redwitz and Berglied das Knaben by Uhland.
