Miss Louisa Tipková, according to the review of this production by the unsigned review that was published in Dalibor 20/4/1859, had been resident in Prague for the past two years. Her performance in this concert was considered by the Dalibor critic to be ‘pretty, thoughtful and expressive [. . .] in the songs by Schubert, Mendelssohn, Jachýmek, Bognar and Proch; she demonstrated technical ability, remarkable coloratura and elegance in her performance of the difficult variations by J[osef] Nesvadba.’ The other soloists were also positively acclaimed. The solo vocalists in the quartet by Möhring comprised Miss Emilie Miková, Miss Josefa Schmidtová, Miss Marie Kučerová, and Miss Tipková.
The concert programme is reproduced in order corresponding with the Dalibor 10/4/1859 report. The song Frühlingslied by Mendelssohn cannot be identified. The duet from Jessonda was identified by the German reviews appearing in Bohemia and Prager Morgenpost as the “Blumenduett”, and hence is ‘Laß für ihn’. The composer Bognar, given as Bognár by Morgenpost cannot be identified.
This was the first public performance given in Prague by the pianist Vilemína Čermáková since her appearance in a concert in the Estates Theatre in December 1858. Prager Morgenpost 4/1/1859 had published news that Miss Čermák was soon to give a second concert in the Estates Theatre, but evidently this did not take place as soon as was expected.
