The German-language Prague newspaper Tagesbote aus Böhmen 19/4/1857 reported: ‘Yesterday evening a large military parade and torchlit processionwas held as a preliminary celebration for the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor Ferdinand. As every year, a numerous crowd of people had gathered to take part in the night ceremony. In a dense mass the procession was surrounded by almost half of the residents of Prague, and was accompanied by the playing of musical bands from various barracks.’ No further details were given by this source.
