The German daily newspaper Bohemia 2/12/1858 published news that ‘All dance-lovers in our elegant world will delight in the announcement that the Great Evening of the Society Ball [Vereinsballes] is fixed for 12 January.’ Profits from the event would be donated to the Private Society for the Poor of Prague, and the music rehearsal was originally scheduled for 26 December. Bohemia 15/12/1858 also published news that this Ball would take place on 12 January.

Tagesbote aus Böhmen 8/12/1858 contained a notice relating that gentlemen's tickets for the Society Ball [Vereins-Balle] on 12th January in the Hall on Žofín Island could be obtained from: Mr Camill Habutmann, Horse Market [Václavské náměstí] nr.787; Anton Bamberger, Fruit Market [Ovocní třida] nr.579; Friedr. Blumauer, Bridge Street [Mostecká ulice] in the Little Quarter.  Gentlemen who had not yet obtained tickets for ladies were requested to enquire with the first named of the above.

However, no details of this event having taken place appeared in other sources. A rehearsal for a Society Ball (then titled ‘Gesellschaftsball’ and probably referring to an unconnected event) was held on 26/12/1858.

A similarly titled series of events given in the Žofín Hall, which were titled ‘Societätsball’ [Society Ball], did occur on 25 and 31 January and on 7 February 1859, and included a musical ensemble directed by Pergler.
