An public notice from the committee of the German Gymnastic Society [Deutsche Turnverein] was published by Prager Morgenpost 17/10/1863. The source announced: ‘Announcement! The Festival for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle at Leipzig arranged by the German Turnverein takes place on Monday 19th October at 8pm in the Žofín Island Hall.’ A rehearsal of the participating German singing societies Aëde, Arion and Flöte took place during the afternoon of 18/10/1863. This was announced in a separate public notice appearing in Prager Morgenpost 17/10/1863.

The Tagesanzeiger daily almanac of Prague social musical events published by Prager Morgenpost 19/10/1863 noted: ‘Thanksgiving festival for the Battle at Leipzig, arranged by the German Gymnastic Society [Turnverein] on the Žofín Islan (8pm).’ No further details were given by the source.
