Aëde
Prager Morgenpost 6/10/1863 published news of this event, noting: ‘The Music Society „Aede“ [Aëde] celebrates today the anniversary of its foundation through a concert in Brisker’s venue. It commences at 7 o’clock; following it there will be a drinking party [‘Commers’].’ This issue of the newspaper also noted in its Tagesanzeiger almanac of Prague social and musical events: ‘Anniversary of the Singing Society „Aede“ (evening 7 o’clock.)’. No further details of this event were given by this source.
A brief review, signed ‘n’ appeared in Prager Morgenpost 8/10/1863. The correspondent reported: ‘Aëde. The Singing Society „Aede“ celebrated on the evening of 6th October the festival of the second-year anniversary of its establishment through a musical Soirée, at which only the forces of the Society participated in very praiseworthy fashion. Particularly successful was the choir, whose performance of the Lied: An die deutsche „Tricolore“ received stormy applaise and was encored. A very numerous audience was present, who then participated in the jovial drinks parts [Commers] in which they were also joined by ladies.’ The last sentence suggests that attendance of the Soirée itself was probably limited to the male members of Aëde.
