The Prague Tagesanzeiger daily almanac of social musical events published by Prager Morgenpost 16/7/1863 announced: ‘for today... Examination production of Mr Wenzel Stára on the Žofín Island.’ No further details of this event were given by this source.

A brief, unsigned review of these examinations was published by Prager Morgenpost 23/7/1863. The correspondent reported: ‘The Examination productions of pupils of Stara’s [Stára] Music Institute, which we had the opportunity to attend, provided pleasing evidence of the proficient [teaching] methods of this Institute. Individual pupils demonstrated their ability to handle their instrument, the piano, and to satisfy high standard of performance. Of the pupils who demonstrated particularly skilful playing, the instrument with delicate touch and great precision in their solo performances as well as in ensemble [playing]... we note: Misses Marie Otschinek, Caroline Sewera, Marie Frank, Marie Chevallier and Caroline Schwarz, and the gentlemen: Carl Čížek and V. Vacek.’
