These pieces were first published in September 1854 by the Prague publisher Joh. Hoffmann. A review of this publication appeared in Mercy’s Anzeiger 23/9/1854. The pieces, issued in an ‘elegant’ publication were recommended to all ‘friends of grateful salon pieces. ‘Both movements contain no particular technical difficulties, are affecting through their attractive melody whose charm is brought out through pleasant and, particularly in the Barcarolle, characteristic accompaniment. Their author, who we know as a solid pianist, exhibits here a promising compositional talent.
