Tagesbote aus Böhmen 21/7/1857 reported the publication by Hofmann of this ‘newest composition of the favourite dance-composer Miss Mathilde Ringelsberg. It carries the title Knallkügerl’n Polka and gained the first place in the prize competition at the last musical Kränzchen [Garland] in the Konvikt Hall. As with previous compositions of this esteemed composer, this piece is characterised by simplicity of melody and attractiveness of rhythm.’.
