Dotzauer, Friedrich (1783-1860). German violoncellist and composer. Played in the court orchestra at Meiningen, then at Leipzig, Berlin and Dresden. Active not only as a composer of ’cello pieces, but also of chamber and orchestral works, and also an opera. However, it was his ’cello music that was most widely cultivated.
