William Vincent Wallace

Wallace, William Vincent (1812-1865). Irish composer and pianist. His early career took him around the world, including Australia, Mexico and the United States where he as involved in the founding of the New York Philharmonic Society. He resided for some time in London in 1845 and gained considerable success there with his operatic works. His later life was spent in America and back in London.
