Carl Philip Emanuel Bach
Bach, Carl Philip Emanuel (1714-1788). German musician and composer. Studied law in Leipzig and Frankfurt but devoted himself instead to music becoming court musician to Frederick II of Prussia and then (from 1768) Kapellmeister in Hamburg. Composed works across many genres from orchestral to keyboard, to chamber and church music. A handful of Bach’s orchestral works were performed in Prague during the middle of the nineteenth century by the Prague Cecilia Society.
