Barbora Mellerová

Mellerová, Barbora (c.1833-1859). German soprano. The following biographical details published by Dalibor 20/7/1859. Born in Augsburg. Began her career, initially as a dancer, in the court theatre in Munich. After a trial with the opera company she then became a dramatic singer appearing with success in Frankfurt am Main before being engaged at the court opera in Brunswick. In 1858 she appeared as a guest in Prague at the Estates Theatre, performing amongst other rôles as Leonora in Fidelio and Elizabeth in Tannhäuser. As a result she was engaged to the Estates Theatre and appeared as a member as such for the first time on  22/2/1859. She died on 15/7/1859 following a difficult childbirth.
