Giulio Regondi

Regondi, Giulio (1822-1872). Born in Lyon but usually noted to be of Italian nationality. Guitarist and concertina player. Child prodigy touring Europe during the late 1820s and early 1830s before being abandoned by his opportunistic foster father in Britain. During the 1840s and 1850s he again gave concerts in Europe before settling permanently in London in the 1860s. He was one of the first accomplished advocates of Wheatstone’s new musical instrument, the concertina.
