Podrobnosti o osobě

František Adolf Vintr

Franz Adoph Winter Wintr

Vintr, František Adolf (b.1820). Czech musician. Provincial background and early musical education, moving to Prague in the early 1830s to study law. Engaged in the legal profession but active as a composer producing vocal works including an important body of Czech choruses dating from c.1850 until the late 1880s). Vintr may also have been the author of popular dance music being given in Prague during late 1850s and early 1860s; such compositions were frequently performed with the ascription ‘Wintr’ or ‘Winter’ or ‘F. Winter’. However, the German name Winter and its Czech equivalent Vintr was not uncommon, and there may have been more than František Adolf active as a composer in Czech lands during the middle-nineteenth century.
